Introduction

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a growing team working on modern data and analytics solutions in a manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, has solid data engineering fundamentals, and is not afraid to take ownership.

We are not looking for someone who matches every single technology on a checklist. What matters most is a strong analytical mindset, good SQL skills, and the willingness to learn and grow.

This is a long-term role with room to grow technically and professionally as the data platform and team continue to evolve.

Job description

  • Build and maintain data pipelines for analytics and reporting

  • Work with SQL and relational databases to prepare clean, reliable datasets

  • Support data ingestion from various sources (APIs, CDC, streaming, files)

  • Collaborate with BI and analytics colleagues on data models and structures

  • Help ensure data quality and consistency across the data platform

  • Use Git and follow basic DevOps and agile ways of working

  • Communicate data topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Take ownership, contribute ideas, and actively support the team’s goals

Personality requirements

  • You have 2-5 years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases, query authoring, as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases

  • Ability to articulate data concepts to stakeholders at all levels and foster a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization

  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.

  • Knowledge of data ingestion methods (CDC, API, streaming) and formats (JSON, Parquet, Iceberg)

  • Experience with version control like Git

  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving aptitude

  • Excellent communication skills in English

  • Strong teamwork skills, ownership mentality, and a can-do attitude

Nice to have:

  • Experience with dbt or data processing pipelines and data warehousing is beneficial

  • Working in agile teams with scrum / SAFe

  • Knowledge of the data mesh concepts

  • Experience with knowledge graphs and semantic modelling

  • Experience with big data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.) and data pipeline and workflow management tools

  • Prior experience within an automotive environment

  • Well established relevant network from which to draw advice, guidance, best practice and industry developments
